FAQ
Answers before you arrive — who can stay, when we’re open, fees, fires, dogs, clothing-optional, and more.
Who can stay at TRC?
Triangle Recreation Camp is a private, queer-centered sanctuary. Membership is exclusively for LGBTQ+ adults (21+) — that means gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, and queer folks only.
The only exception? Friends & Family Weekend, where chosen family (yes, even the straight ones) are welcome under the watchful glitter of their queer host.
When is TRC open?
We officially open the second Saturday of April and wrap the magic up the second Saturday of October. Mother Nature has the final word, though — snow or storms might shift things, so always check for updates.
Membership & camping fees
- Limited Membership (visitors): $22/night, tent camping only.
- Regular Membership: $195/year — unlimited camping for the season. Seniors & disabled members save 15% (because yes, we see you!).
Can I pay with a credit card?
Absolutely! Pre-pay online for memberships and camping, or use your card on-site for purchases. Easy peasy, swipey queasy.
Can I camp during the week?
Yes queen, you can! Weekends may be busier, but weekdays are blissfully chill. Pitch a tent, snag a spot by the river, enjoy the peace, and light a cozy fire in the communal pit.
How long can I stay?
- Max stay: 14 consecutive days.
- Then it’s a mandatory 5-day break before you return (go hydrate, do laundry, and come back refreshed).
Tent camping reservations?
Tent sites are first come, first served — but you can pre-register online to breeze through check-in. Faster check-in starts here.
RV / truck camper / sleeper van?
- Yes, you must reserve in advance.
- Spots go fast, especially during event weekends. Reserve your RV spot now.
Can I camp on the beach?
Not quite — most beach areas are National Forest land, but you can snag a riverside campsite on TRC property for that waterfront fantasy.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, but keep that fur baby on a leash at all times. Camp can be overstimulating for pups, so monitor their comfort and never forget those doggie bags (you’re not that camper, right?).
Is there Wi-Fi?
TRC offers free Wi-Fi on site using Starlink. Don’t expect to stream with it, but it’s great for messaging and keeping in touch with folks back home. Besides, who really wants to be on instagram when you have a wild sanctuary in front of you?
Campfires?
- No personal fires at Limited sites.
- Use our designated communal fire pits only, due to summer fire danger.
- Be smart. Be safe. Be smoky in the right way.
Wheelbarrows?
Yes hunny, and they’re fabulous for hauling your glam gear to your site. Just return them when you’re done — sharing is sexy.
Is clothing optional?
Oh yes it is. Nudity is totally allowed except in areas visible from the public (like the highway and parking lot). On the beach? Let it fly, darling.
